Emergency & Out of Hours Support

If you are unable to access firstpoint, there is other emergency and out of hours support available.

This is the University’s official safety app for students. If you’re feeling uncomfortable in a situation on or between campuses, you can alert University Security via the app, which is free for download and registering.

In an emergency, the police, ambulance or fire service can be contacted by telephoning 999.
There is a Mental Health Team located at Accident and Emergency (A&E).

Students

The NHS 111 service is staffed by a team of fully trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you straightaway to the local service that can help you best.

If you are registered with a GP you can contact them for an appointment or, if available, a home visit. Some surgeries offer an out of hours or emergency appointment service.

If you are a victim of crime, our University Police Community Support Officer’s (PCSO), are here to help. They are based at the University and can be accessed either via email or by telephoning.

The University’s Security Team can assist students, staff and all visitors to the University 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If you are a student on or off campus, you can access them with personal safety concerns.
