Support for Pregnant Students & Partners

Support for Pregnant Students

If you are pregnant while studying at the University of Worcester, you can access a range of support—whatever your circumstances, feelings, or decisions. We’re here to help you navigate your options, protect your wellbeing, and stay on track with your studies.

Telling the University

Letting us know about your pregnancy (or if your partner is pregnant) means we can offer the right support for you. You are encouraged to speak confidentially to your Personal Academic Tutor, the Student Community Wellbeing Service Manager, Programme Advisers, or the Counselling Team.

If you’re on a course with specific requirements (such as nursing or midwifery), there will be dedicated staff to support you—ask your course team for details.

Students at Partner Colleges are encouraged to inform their Course Leaders or student support department. They will be able to tailor the support specific to the requirements of the course.

Support for All Outcomes

  • Continuing Your Pregnancy: We’ll work with you to plan any academic adjustments you need, and complete a risk assessment to ensure your safety on campus and during placements.
  • Considering Termination: If you’re unsure about your options or want to talk about termination, we offer confidential, non-judgemental support and can signpost you to specialist services.
  • Pregnancy Loss: If you experience miscarriage or pregnancy loss, support is available—please reach out for compassionate help.
  • Pregnant Partners: If your partner is pregnant and you need support, you are welcome to contact us for advice and guidance.

International Students

If you are an international student, please contact the International Student Advisers as soon as possible. Pregnancy may affect your visa or study requirements, and we can help you understand your options.

Confidentiality

Your privacy is important. Any information you share about your pregnancy or your partner’s pregnancy will be treated confidentially and only shared with relevant staff to support you.
