As soon as you have accepted an offer to study at the University, you can contact us to arrange any adjustments you may need and receive guidance on applying for additional support such as Disabled Students’ Allowance.
You can contact us before you have accepted an offer to study at the University, but we can only provide advice and are only able to confirm support details, such as Reasonable Adjustment Plans, when an offer has been accepted.
Step 1 – Book an appointment with a Disability Adviser
This information applies to
Everyone.
Appointments with Disability Advisers can be either in-person (at our St John’s Campus) or online (via Microsoft Teams). CLICK HERE TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT.
During your appointment we will discuss what support you may need at University and agree upon a Reasonable Adjustments Plan (RAP). If you have applied to stay in on-campus accommodation, we can also discuss any adjustments you might need in your room or flat.
Step 2 – Apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)
This information applies to
Undergraduate home students
Postgraduate home students
Apprenticeship Students
International Students
Information about Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) can be found HERE
We can also discuss DSA, the benefits of applying, and how you apply for it, during your appointment with a Disability Adviser.
Step 3 – Apply for accommodation.
This information applies to
Anyone who wants to live in on-campus accommodation
Our guide to the University’s accommodation, including how to apply, can be found HERE
If you need adjustments to your accommodation, due to a disability or medical condition, information can be found HERE
You should apply for accommodation before the date of your Disability Adviser appointment so adjustments can be agreed without delay.
Do I need to send any documents before my appointment?
We try to limit requesting medical evidence before agreeing to adjustments, but some adjustments will require supporting medical evidence.
Supporting documents can be sent to disability@worc.ac.uk. Photos of the documents are fine.
- Exam adjustments: Human readers/scribes/prompts or an individual room – please provide evidence of past exam adjustments e.g. a ‘Form 8’ from school or college, or other evidence produced by a suitable professional confirming the need for adjustments.
- Accommodation adjustments: evidence needed from an appropriate professional confirming the medical need for the adjustment.
